The Nehemiah Childcare Development Center is located in an east-side lower-income neighborhood of Springfield, Illinois. It is the first of three centers planned for Springfield. The 7,000 square-foot one-story facility was constructed with block and masonry walls and consists of a lobby, restrooms, kitchen, dining room, five classrooms, two offices, a lounge, laundry room and two playgrounds. The facility was completed in January 2001 and designed by architect John Shafer of Springfield. The center is an exciting project for the community and is licensed for 83 children, ages ranging from infants to five years of age.
